Family and Memories

My Uncle Dennis was in town last night with his wife, so we met them at Red Lobster for dinner.
Uncle Dennis is my Mom's only brother. I haven't seen him since my Mom's funeral, five years ago! Horrible, I know!

It was fun getting to see him again. It was kinda weird too, because it was like looking into my Mom's face again. They have the same eyes and nose. I miss that part of the family. Pretty much everyone else has gone home to be with the Lord....at least that is good news that I'll get to see them all again one day :D

The girls warmed right up to him. Kaylee was only a year old last time we saw him and Lily wasn't even born yet. My Uncle Dennis and his Dad (my Pa Pa) never did meet a child who didn't just climb right up in their laps. My Mom too.........there's just something about that part of the family that is so loving, that kids just love.

I think my Uncle was about to say something in this picture. Ha!

He wanted me to scan and print out some old photos of his parents that I had from my Mom. I thought I'd share this one with y'all. This has always been a favorite photo. I have it framed and sitting on my entryway table. This is my Meme and Pa Pa. My Pa Pa died when I was only five, but I remember getting to go to the Dairy Queen with him and have ice cream and he would have a cup of coffee. They lived in a tiny town called Hubbard, Texas (in between Waco and Corsicana). All the men would gather at the Dairy Queen for coffee. I love that about small towns!
Don't you just love this picture?!! Oh, how I wish I lived back in that era! I just love the hairstyles, the simple jewelry, the beautiful handmade dresses. I just love that simple, elegant, classic style.

When I was digging through some old photos, I found a picture of me when I was little. I guess I was about 5. It amazed me because it looked so much like Kaylee. Everyone always asks us who's child Kaylee is because she doesn't look anything like Madison or Lily, and everyone thinks Madison and Lily look just like me. However, see for yourself if you think Kaylee favors me. I definitely think she does :)

I was pretty cute, if I do say so myself. LOL!!!!!! Don't you just love that curled under hairstyle?

Kristin your uncle looks like a big teddy bear! He looks so nice and friendly. I am glad that you and the family got to meet with him... and his wife.

Kaylee does really- really- really look like you! Sooo cute.

Loved the picture of your grandma and grandpa,...makes me miss John's mom and dad even more looking at that. I love the olden days! It seems so simple...yet I know they had their struggles and hard times in that era. But it sure seems like the simpler times.

Love,
Linda
